About Persia
Persia Tatar was born and raised in a small town in the Pocono Mountains of
Pennsylvania where her parents exposed her to drawing, painting, and sewing.
She began her artistic career at a young age by sewing with her grandmothers-
both seamstresses, painting and drawing with her parents- both artists, and
designing and constructing clothing for her Barbies and paper dolls. By the
time Persia was in middle school she was selling custom made t-shirts to high
school friends, local boutiques, and also at a small antique shop she ran with
her father.
Persia graduated from MMI Preparatory School in 1998 and went on to graduate
from business school at Villanova University in 2001. After college she studied
fashion at Parson's School of Design in New York while working with several
young designers and interning at W Magazine and Women's Wear Daily.
In 2004, Persia introduced her clothing line in New York City during Olympus
Fashion Week. The collection, entitled "Persia", is a women's ready to wear
line that invokes a casual glamour. Persia says that she likes the idea of
versatile clothing where pieces from the line can fit into anyone's wardrobe
and lifestyle.
