Ron Knepper and Persia Tatar have teamed up to fuse fashion and art to create limited edition shirts, which combine Ron Knepper's provocative contemporary artwork with Persia's designs to make art more attainable.

Ron Knepper is an accomplished painter and sculptor. Ron has been an instructor at Parson's School of Design for over 9 years in New York and Persia's former color theory teacher. He has been the recipient of prestigious awards such as the Pollock- Krasner Foundation Grant and the Regional Master's Fellowship and is currently working on a monument for Marquette University.

The idea for art-to-wear was born out of Persia's appreciation for Ron's artwork, which she describes as eye candy, and the desire for artwork to be more accessible. The two came up with the idea at one of Ron's gallery openings, when Persia wished that she could see Ron's artwork all of the time, not just on a gallery or studio wall. As the two got to talking they thought the best user friendly medium for the work would be a shirt, not only could the wearer enjoy owning and being art but the observer could appreciate it as well.

While a shirt is the most common item in a wardrobe, there is nothing common about this shirt; which in itself is a piece of art. The cashmere and silk knit shirt is asymmetrically constructed to uniquely display the artwork, which is silk-screened on various locations on the shirt and joined together by exposed seams with threads chosen to complement the art. Additionally each shirt is hand embellished with Swarovski crystals and lace, embroidered by Persia and signed and numbered by Ron- making each shirt a one of a kind, unique piece of art and fashion. A finite number of 24 shirts have been produced to enhance the appreciation of the artwork.

Future plans include a lingerie line and jewelry inspired by Ron's provocative artwork.
